Dance of Shiva, Cyclic Combinations 2a (Video)

If you are already familiar with the Dance of Shiva, this set of videos focuses on the second group of cyclics, where the arms alternate between being in the same plane and in different planes. This set of videos focuses on Q1 and Q2 starts. (2b focuses on Q3 and Q4 starts)

Position names are displayed for each group of four movements.

The following movement combinations are included:

F-CF, CF-F, B-CB, CB-B, F-CB, CB-F, B-CF, CF-B.

In the dance of shiva, cyclic movements pass through four different positions before returning to the starting position.

In contrast, jump or non-cyclic moves are movements that return to the starting position after only two repetitions. (Cyclic movements need four repetitions to return to the start.)

There are 8 positions for each arm, four with the hands horizontal, four with the hands vertical. Movements that include a change movement cause the hands to change plane each movement. Non-changing movement or same-plane movements keep the hands in the same plane. If one hand is doing a same-plane movement and the other a change plane movement then the hands alternate between being in the same plane and in different planes. And that's the case with the movements in this set of videos. One hand is either doing a CF (change forward) or CB (change backward) move while the other is doing an F (forward) or B (backward) move.
